WE ARE HOME

This will be very brief as life is racing along here back in California. We must apologize to you faithful followers for the long delay in posting since our last entry. We arrived home late Thursday May 14th with our new son, Sasha (Alex). Our new daughter has had a difficult time leaving all that is familiar to her in Ukraine and we have given her some more time to think about coming, with the promise that we will return and bring her home anytime she changes her mind. Her United States Visa must be used within six months or it expires. The transition here is challenging and joyous. After about 5 days we all made the time zone/jet lag transition. Lots of medical tests have been done, the physical is complete and he is good to register for school for the first time in his 7 and a half year old life. He weighs exactly the same (33 pounds!) as he did when he spent time with us in July, 2008. But he is finally starting to eat...praise God! We praise God for all that has happened that is good. We have learned much from new friends, from old friends and from our immediate and extended family. We are very grateful for the love and support you have extended over these last challenging months. We will continue to update the blog but probably not as frequently. Again sorry for the long delay in getting this posted. Blessings to you all.

  1. Hello Rebecca
Halelujah! God is Great! I do hope That Big sister will change her mind, I can't even begin to image what such a young girl in her situation must be feeling. But I'll still keep her and all of you in my prayers and touch base now and then.
Also praying for smooth transition for you and your whole family. Thank you for the privilege to follow and be a part of your awesome journey.
The Lord Bless you all and may his countenance shine continually on your home.
    I'm Very Happy for you!
    God Bless You!

  2. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, "'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.'"
The Weeks' family appears to have followed the Lord's plan for Alex - I love his name.
You maintained a cooperative spirit. Working well with others in a country strange to you and most of Americans. This is a key to achieving goals. We must set aside our pride and develop a servant-like spirit that willingly cooperates with others. Give-and-take is essential in relationships, not only in families, but between countries.

You all showed courage. God may ask us to work with difficult people, separate ourselves from certain situations, or take assignments that seem overwhelming. Each circumstance requires us to exercise courage and move forward.

To fulfull His purposes you demontrated persistence. We must have a determined mind and tenacious spirit to overcome temptation, adversity, discouragement, or personal failure. You were never tempted to walk away from His purpose. If you were, you overcame the temptation.

Your controlled attitude, a Christ-centered, hopeful attitude was essential to succeed. When negative thoughts, doubts, and fears surfaced, you turned to God and reflected on His all-encompassing love and good purposes. You did not allow pessimistic thoughts and emotions to overtake your mind.

It appeared that you consciously depended upon God. We all must rely on Him for wisdom, guidance, and the spiritual training we need to carry out His plans. Self-reliance and independent action will lead us astray every time.

As the Lord's servants, we're to carry out His purposes and plans, not ours. You seem to be in line with His.

It has been a blessing, a privelege to follow this season of your journey. May God continue to show you the ways in which He wants His purpose filled.
    God bless,
    Rosie
